‘BIYAL’, Castlemaine Art Museum, 22 August – 29 November 2026.
A celebration of the Guildford Biyal (Red gum), known locally as the Guildford Big Tree.
The Biyal is deeply significant to Dja Dja Wurrung People. It predates colonisation, its grafted branch signifying it as a marker tree. In February 2024, the Biyal dropped a significant limb. This was a pivotal event for Dja Dja Wurrung People and the broader community. All works (including my clap sticks and miniature coolomon) are made from the timber of the fallen limb.
‘Joy’ a group exhibition at Lot19, Castlemaine, curated by Suzanne Donisthorpe in July. It features a 6.4 metre long canvas and accompanying ‘Impermanentator’ and an Artist Talk.
